Due to freezing rain on the day we had previously planned it, the kids' egg hunt at Grammy and Grandpa's was held this past week. It was a hit as always, I don't remember the exact amount of cash each kid hunted this year, but no one went home disappointed. Lydia was allowed a 30 second head start before anyone else, then Claire and Josh got to join her for about an additional 30 seconds, then all of the big kids rushed the yard and it was over in a flash searching and gathering. Those kids are serious about finding those eggs. But none was quite so serious as Carter, who remained dedicated to finding the unfound egg with a $5 bill in it for at least an hour after every other kid had given up. His persistence was rewarded.

My parents do the same thing with some money in the eggs, but I've missed it for the past nine years. Maybe someday!
$5 an hr.....that's not a bad rate for a kid.
What I think is so classic...is that none of you adults starting giving in and giving hints the minute he lasted longer than the other kids.....I wonder where he has learned his work ethic? :)
Alice,
The really funny thing is that the adults spent at least 15 minutes themselves looking for that egg, but none of us could find it. We just knew there was one $5 egg that had not been found. :) It was in a tiny green plastic egg, well disguised in the long green grass.
Money in the eggs? I like it. I want to come next year, too.
