Halloween

Ah, the sugar rush is just starting to die down. Here are the kids at the church Trunk-or-Treat from Tuesday night. (Thomas, Bunny, Vampire, Soccer Player)
They had face-painting there, too. They were all pretty bummed that I washed them off before bed that night.
Of course we went out Wednesday night around our neighborhood as well. Those kids have endurance. They could have kept going all night no matter how heavy their plastic pumpkins got! After we finally came home they made quick work of sorting and trading their candy. For a few days afterwards they kept wanting to sort/trade some more. That's my favorite part of the whole holiday I think...I'm glad they're into it too.

Maybe that's why LG and I hate Halloween so much. We don't sort and trade. I do just what my mom does and let them eat 5 or 10 pieces when we get home and then it all goes into one big bowl. Come to think of it, I hated that as a kid, but it sure does make it a lot easier for me.

But, maybe next year we will have to change how we do things because Halloween is our least favorite holiday.

Alice, here's the key: indulge in all the sorting and trading for about a week, THEN put all the candy together in one big bowl. They get all the fun of ownership and bartering, but then you don't worry about them getting all greedy and possessive when the supplies start to dwindle.
